Are you ready to play blackjack everywhere at any time? If so, get ready for Microgaming and Switch Studios’ new table game release: European Blackjack!
Don’t you love playing cards? Nothing can beat the anticipation you get when your card is being turned at the exception of the adrenaline that rushes through your veins when you see the dealer hand you exactly the card you needed.
Blackjack is without a doubt one of the most exciting card games but if you haven’t been in a land-base casino in a long time, you might not have had the chance to play in a while. You might not even remember how to play blackjack!
Given that Microgaming and Switch Studios partnered up to bring a blackjack table directly to your mobile, tablet or computer desktop on the 15th of May 2019, it’s more than time to remind you the basic rules of blackjack.
Blackjack Basic Rules
First of all, you need to know that online blackjack is played with the same rules than in a land-based casino.
In this casino game you always play against the house. It’s a strategic game that asks you to consider all the possible outcomes of an action and make the move that statistically gives you the best-expected return. To win you need to obtain the hand that’s closest to a value of 21 without exceeding it. If your hand’s value is over 21 you busted and you’re out.
At the beginning of the turn the dealer will hand you two cards and ask what you want to do. From there you can hit, meaning take more cards until you are happy with your hand or stand and keep your combination the way it is.
Talking about combinations, do you know the value of the cards in blackjack?
- King, Queen and Jacks: know as face cards. Each worth 10 points
- Numbered card: 2 through 10. Worth their face value
- Ace: Worth 1 point or 11 points depending on what advantages the player
A hand combining an ace and a 10-value card is known as a blackjack.
In addition to these basic blackjack rules, each casino and casino table has its own personal rules and features.
European Blackjack Overview
European Blackjack is a new responsive casino game that you’ll get to enjoy on the go. Available on mobile and tablets, it can be displayed on both landscape and portrait mode. It can also be accessed through a computer whose bigger screen will also be used to give you the thrill of a real-life casino. Your experience will be total thanks to the minimalist design, fluid gameplay and exciting animations and sounds. Add that to the options of playing in turbo and left-handed mode and you get an incredibly dynamic game.
Another aspect of this table-game you’ll love is the real-money prizes! With low volatility, meaning frequent wins, and an RTP of 99.60% you are certain to cash out a lot. Bets start at 1.00 coin and can go up to 200 with a default bet at 10 coins.
European Blackjack Gameplay
Each casino has its own rules and online games are no different. Played with 2 regular decks, European Blackjack has a no peek rule and the dealer must stand on all 17s. If you are unfamiliar with these terms, they mean that the dealer cannot check beforehand if he has a blackjack and that he must stands once he reaches 17.
European Blackjack also has a lot of slick features.
If you get 2 cards with the same value (e.g. 9 & 9), you can split them and play two hands at once (e.g. 9+6 & 9+Q). In European Blackjack you cannot split on a 10 or a face card. Once you split you can hit, stand and double down normally.
With this feature, you get to double your initial bet but from there you can only receive one additional card. In European Blackjack it is only offered when you receive a 9, 10 or 11.
If the dealer’s card is an Ace, you have the option of making a side wager of half the current bet value. If you do, you’re betting that the dealer has a blackjack and there are three possible outcomes:
- Dealer has a blackjack: you lose your original wager but receive 2 times the insurance bet and break even (pays 2:1)
- Dealer doesn’t have a blackjack: you lose the insurance bet and play the rest of the hand normally
- You both have a blackjack: you keep your original bet and you get 2 times the insurance money
