It’s been the talk of the town, and a relationship that started back in August 2016. On 19 May 2018, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry finally said “I do” in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Prince Harry is, of course, a member of the British Royal Family, and the youngest son of Lady Diana and Prince Charles. Meghan Markle, on the other hand, is from America and a former actress (you may remember her from the TV series “Suits”). Now that she’s officially part of the Royal family there are a few things she won’t be able to do any longer, because, well… she’s a Royal. Let’s take a look at how Meghan’s life changed overnight and what she can’t do anymore – oh, the things we do for love!
Yes, as a member of the Royal family, Meghan Markle is no longer allowed to have any social media accounts. Whether it’s Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, she simply can’t have her private life displayed on the Internet. Does that mean no more selfies? Gasp! It does indeed – the Queen herself is not a fan of selfies, and looks down on the whole concept, so we’re afraid that Meghan, who used to be very active on social media, will simply have to live with the fact that she’s now married to Prince Harry, which really is a good enough compromise, don’t you think?
What’s a girl to do when she can no longer dress the way she wants to? Well, if you think about the fact that Meghan Markle is now a Royal, who cares – she’s living the high life. But there are a few things that may be quite bothersome; as far as general appearance goes, here’s what she can no longer wear:
- See-through outfits: the last of these outfits was seen in the engagement photos when she wore a $75 000 Ralph & Russo mesh dress. It certainly raised some eyebrows, but be that as it may, these (and other) outfits are now a thing of the past.
- Colourful or dark nail polish: It’s protocol to wear only natural colours at official events. The Queen herself has been a fan of “Ballet Slippers” (which is a subtle shade of light pink) since 1989.
- Wedges: This rule only applies when the Queen is around, and purely because she really isn’t a fan of wedged shoes. We’re keeping a close eye to see whether Meghan will be wearing wedges when she’s out in public without the Queen… just because she can!
- Giant purses: This is not officially confirmed as a Royal rule, but clutch purses really just look so much more elegant, don’t you agree? Princess Diana actually started this trend in the 80s and 90s, and was jokingly called “cleavage bags”, as she used the clutch purses to cover her cleavage when stepping out of a car.
Should Meghan Markle and the Queen ever spend the night at the same house or castle, Meghan is not allowed to go to bed before the Queen does. Maybe it’s not such a big deal, because we’re pretty sure the Queen does not enjoy late nights – sleep tight, Meghan!
While there are loads of other things Meghan Markle won’t be able to do now that she’s married to Prince Harry, we’re pretty sure she doesn’t mind. After all, her life changed in a flash.
